Contemporary Fatawa

Contemporary Fatāwā is a remarkable collection of approximately 700 fatāwā by Muftī Muḥammad Taqī ʿUthmānī, addressing a vast range of contemporary and practical issues. Compiled from around fifty years of his scholarly work, the collection spans 23 chapters and presents detailed answers to more than 700 questions.

A particularly valuable feature of this collection is that many of the fatāwā are published here for the first time and are not translations of previously published Urdu or Arabic writings. The collection also contains a number of detailed research-based discussions that had not previously appeared in this form or at such length.

An earlier collection of Muftī Taqī ʿUthmānī’s English fatāwā, published in *Al-Balāgh International*, contained a smaller selection of his responses. This edition brings together roughly two to three times as many issues, making it a substantially more comprehensive collection.

Originally expected to be published in three volumes covering beliefs, worship, and jurisprudential issues, the entire collection has instead been elegantly compiled into a single volume. Produced to international publishing standards, with a refined design and high-quality paper, Contemporary Fatāwā is both a valuable reference for students and scholars and a distinguished addition to any Islamic library.
