About this edition
The Minaret Speaks uses an effective device to portray the cycle of events in the Islamic History of the Indian subcontinent. A lofty minaret in Delhi which was built by Sultan Qutubuddin describes the happy and tragic times it has witnessed over seven centuries. It highlights the achievements of successful rulers and failures of others and also focuses on the demise of Muslim power in the wake of British Imperialism. Sayyed Abul Hasan 'Ali Nadwi (1914-99), was a leading Muslim scholar of our time. He hailed from a family which has produced such illustrious figures as Sayyed Ahmad Shahid (1786-1831). He has authored numerous works; many have been translated into English: among them are Stories of the Prophets; Muhammad the Last Prophet; Stories from Islamic History and A Starlight View of Islam's Past.
