Qaṭf al-Azhār al-Mutanāthirah fī al-Akhbār al-Mutawātirah – Imām Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī رحمه الله

An Exceptional Work on Mutawātir Ḥadīth

Qaṭf al-Azhār is a remarkable and specialised collection devoted to one of the most significant categories of Ḥadīth: Mutawātir narrations. These are reports transmitted through such a large number of narrators at every level of transmission that their agreement upon a fabrication is ordinarily inconceivable, thereby establishing certainty in their authenticity.

The science of Mutawātir Ḥadīth occupies a particularly important position in Islamic scholarship, as these narrations provide definitive knowledge and play a vital role in establishing fundamental aspects of the Dīn. In an age when the authenticity of the Prophetic tradition is frequently questioned, studying this subject offers valuable insight into the rigorous principles through which the ʿUlamāʾ preserved and authenticated the teachings of Rasūlullāh ﷺ.

Imām al-Suyūṭī رحمه الله compiled this work to gather these important narrations in a single collection. This English translation presents all 113 Aḥādīth included by the Imām, accompanied by helpful explanatory notes and a clear, accessible layout, making this specialised subject easier to appreciate.

A valuable addition to any Maktabah, particularly for students of Ḥadīth, ʿAqīdah, and Uṣūl al-Ḥadīth, as well as readers seeking to understand the certainty afforded by Mutawātir narrations and their significance in the Islamic tradition.
